Teaching practice placements are provided by general secondary education institutions administered by Berehove City Council, general secondary and vocational education institutions throughout Zakarpattia Oblast with which cooperation agreements have been concluded (https://kme.org.ua/hu/a-foiskola-egysegei/tanszekek/biologia-es-kemia-tanszek/szerzodesek/), and the network of educational institutions established by the Ferenc Rákóczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian College of Higher Education.
Aim of Teaching Practice
The aim of teaching practice is to enable students to apply their theoretical knowledge in authentic educational settings, develop their professional teaching competencies, and gain valuable practical experience.
During teaching practice, students become familiar with the organisation of the educational process and the teaching methodologies used in various branches of natural sciences in general secondary education institutions.
Throughout their placements, students apply a range of teaching methods, including verbal methods (explanation and discussion), visual methods (demonstrations, illustrations and multimedia resources), practical methods (observation and laboratory work), and interactive and project-based approaches.
Students also employ contemporary pedagogical approaches and information and communication technologies (ICT) to promote learners’ active engagement and cognitive development.
Teaching practice not only consolidates and deepens theoretical knowledge but also facilitates the development of practical teaching skills, professional competencies and the professional identity of prospective teachers.
Objectives of Teaching Practice
The principal objectives of teaching practice are to:
- familiarise students with the educational and organisational systems of educational institutions;
- examine institutional teaching and methodological documentation;
- consolidate and extend students’ disciplinary, psychological and pedagogical knowledge and apply it to the solution of practical educational problems;
- develop the psychological, pedagogical and methodological competencies required for teaching natural sciences;
- plan and conduct educational and extracurricular activities;
- develop effective professional and pedagogical communication skills when working with school pupils;
- foster reflective practice and the ability to observe and critically analyse lessons delivered by other teachers, thereby supporting continuous improvement in teaching;
- develop proficiency in applying contemporary educational technologies, teaching methodologies and ICT tools;
- encourage the development of an individual, creative teaching style and promote commitment to professional development, self-directed learning and lifelong learning.
Teaching Practice Activities Conducted
24 March – 17 April 2025 Students enrolled in the Biology and Human Health and Natural Sciences programmes successfully completed their two-week group teaching practice. During the first week, students participated in theoretical and methodological preparation at the College, while the second week provided opportunities to gain direct practical experience at partner schools in Berehove. Throughout the placement, student teachers became acquainted with the organisation and operation of educational institutions, examined subject-specific teaching documentation, and observed lessons delivered by experienced teachers. By independently delivering practice lessons, students developed their public speaking and presentation skills, classroom management competencies, and ability to use teaching aids effectively. The programme also provided opportunities to receive constructive feedback from mentor teachers and establish professional relationships, thereby laying a foundation for their future teaching careers (https://kme.org.ua/hu/hirek/befejezodtek-a-csoportos-pedagogiai-gyakorlatok-a-biologia-es-kemia-tanszek-hallgatoi-szamara/)
13 April 2025 – Professional Training and Institutional Visits on Inclusive Education Students enrolled in the Mathematics, Computer Science, Natural Sciences and Biology programmes participated in a professional training session and institutional visits focusing on inclusive education. As part of the programme, students visited the Nefelejcs Rehabilitation Centre in Vary (Mezővári), where they learned about the institution’s history and the developmental support available to children with special educational needs. The visit continued at Vary Lyceum, where students exchanged experiences through professional discussions and further developed their theoretical understanding. During the training, participants attended presentations on individual development plans, teachers’ responsibilities in inclusive education, and the use of the nz.ua digital educational platform. These practical experiences contributed to the development of students’ empathy and enhanced their understanding of how differentiated teaching approaches can be implemented in educational practice (https://kme.org.ua/hu/hirek/talalkozas-a-sokfeleseggel-inkluziv-szemlelet-a-pedagogiai-gyakorlatban/)
16–27 March 2026 Second-year undergraduate students enrolled in the Biology and Human Health, Natural Sciences, and Chemistry programmes at Ferenc Rákóczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian University participated in a two-week group teaching practice. The comprehensive programme enabled prospective teachers to gain valuable practical experience in a wide range of educational settings, from theoretical and methodological preparation and familiarisation with the specific requirements of subject-specialist classrooms to direct engagement with authentic school environments and inclusive educational practices.
