Main Functions of IRIS
Functions for Students
Within the IRIS interface, students can access their academic data, class timetable, examination schedule, individual study plan, selected courses, and electronic student record book. The system supports registration for free elective courses; for each course, a detailed description, syllabus, presentation materials, and language of instruction are available.
IRIS automatically notifies users of timetable overlaps, as well as cases in which a course is not opened due to an insufficient number of registered students.
The system also provides an opportunity for the recognition of free elective courses on the basis of other achievements, such as sports or research results, a language examination certificate, courses completed at another educational institution, or online courses. In such cases, the student must coordinate the matter with their department.
Academic Staff and Administrative Functions
The teaching modules of IRIS, accessible through the academic staff profile, make it possible to work with timetables, student data, and grades. From the administrative perspective, the system supports the preparation of certificates, student questionnaires, records, and other documents; the maintenance of the graduate archive; the compilation of curricula, working curricula, and individual study plans; the creation of class timetables and examination schedules; as well as the processes of course registration and the selection of topics for course papers or qualification theses.
Connection with the Quality Management System
Within the quality assurance structure, IRIS is not merely a technical system, but also one of the instruments for digitalizing the educational process and enhancing quality. In the institution’s quality objectives, IRIS is presented as part of the digital environment for learning management and the organization of the educational process.
The use of IRIS is of significant importance for managing the educational process in both full-time and part-time forms of study. The system contributes to the structuring of academic information, supports electronic administration, and provides a foundation for the further development of digital tools for quality assurance.
Advantages of IRIS
Transparency: IRIS makes the most important information concerning the educational process available in one place: class timetable, examination schedule, curriculum, course registration, and learning outcomes.
Convenient administration: the digitalization of document preparation, certificates, student questionnaires and records, course registration, and the maintenance of academic documentation reduces the volume of paper-based and fragmented administration.
Quality enhancement: IRIS is connected to the quality assurance system, feedback mechanisms, satisfaction surveys, and the analysis of data related to the organization of the educational process. In addition, the development of the system is also based on feedback, and user suggestions form part of the quality assurance process.
Continuous development: the system is continuously expanded with new functions in response to current challenges in the organization of the educational process.
A data-driven future: according to strategic documents, in the coming years IRIS may be supplemented with functions for analysis, support, and management decision-making based on artificial intelligence.
