Scientific OSINT in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: YouControl Open Data as a Foundation for Academic Research

On October 28, 2026, the Department of Accounting and Finance organized an educational and research event entitled “Scientific OSINT in the Age of AI: YouControl Open Data as a Foundation for Academic Research.” The session was delivered by Oksana Lynchak, Education Partnerships Development Manager at YouControl LLC’s Learning and Development Department.

The event was organized as part of the following course units:

  • “Fundamentals of Scientific Research” – for students enrolled in the Accounting and Taxation degree programme;
  • “Introduction to the Profession and Fundamentals of Scientific Research” – for students enrolled in the Financial Protection degree programme;
  • “Research Methodology” – for students enrolled in the International Accounting and Taxation degree programme.

The session addressed contemporary issues relating to the use of open data, Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) technologies and artificial intelligence in academic research.

During the event, students explored the capabilities of the YouControl analytical platform for searching, collecting, organizing and analyzing information from publicly available sources. Particular attention was paid to the practical application of digital tools in establishing an evidence base for academic research, verifying the reliability of data and identifying relationships between business entities.

The session also examined opportunities for integrating OSINT technologies and artificial intelligence tools into research activities, particularly for processing large volumes of information, conducting analytical investigations, and substantiating research findings.

Events of this nature contribute to bridging theoretical learning and the practical application of modern digital tools, enhancing students’ research and analytical competencies, and developing their ability to critically evaluate information and utilise open data in academic and professional contexts.

The Department of Accounting and Finance extends its sincere gratitude to the YouControl LLC team and Oksana Lynchak personally for their support of educational initiatives, fruitful collaboration, professional approach, and willingness to share practical expertise with students. We particularly appreciate their contribution to developing the digital competencies of future professionals, promoting the use of contemporary academic research tools, and strengthening cooperation between academia and the business community.

We look forward to continued productive collaboration and the implementation of further joint educational and research initiatives!
