On July 13, 2026, Klára Breuer, State Secretary for Bilateral Relations, received the leaders of the Ferenc Rakoczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian University—President Ildikó Orosz and Rector István Csernicskó—at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the consultations, the university leadership provided a comprehensive overview of the operations, achievements, and development plans of the Ferenc Rakoczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian University, as well as the educational, instructional, and cultural institutional network it has established. They presented the educational situation of the Transcarpathian Hungarian community, alongside the challenges that the region’s Hungarian institutions face on a daily basis.
The discussion focused on the educational and cultural aspects of Hungarian–Ukrainian relations, the role of Hungarian institutions abroad, and opportunities for future cooperation. The university leadership emphasized that the University of Rakoczi and the institutions it maintains play a decisive role in providing native-language education for the Transcarpathian Hungarian community, preserving its cultural heritage, and helping younger generations thrive in their homeland.
The parties agreed that regular professional dialogue and the strengthening of cooperation are of key importance for the future of the Transcarpathian Hungarian community. The meeting was held in an open and constructive atmosphere, reaffirming the mutual intention to further deepen relations.
