On the occasion of World Tourism Day, a professional lecture was held on 28 September 2026, jointly organized by the Department of Geography and Tourism of Ferenc Rákóczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian University and the “Rákóczi-Tour” Tourist Information Centre.
The invited speaker of the event was Dr Mária Vasvári, lecturer at the Department of Landscape Protection and Environmental Geography, Institute of Earth Sciences, University of Debrecen, who delivered a lecture entitled “From the Tourist to Tourism – Through the Eyes of a Geographer.”
During the lecture, participants had the opportunity to gain insight into current processes and challenges in tourism, as well as their geographical interrelationships. The speaker presented the relationship between tourists and tourism from several perspectives, with particular emphasis on the spatial, social and environmental dimensions of tourism.
The professional programme provided an excellent opportunity for participants to examine tourism from a geographical perspective and to deepen their understanding of its complex and multifaceted processes.
