6th Intellectual Game “Economic Brain Ring” for Accounting and Finance Students
On March 18, 2026, the 6th intellectual game, “Economic Brain Ring,” was held at Ferenc Rákóczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian University. The participants included first-year bachelor’s students majoring in Accounting and Taxation and Finance, Banking, Insurance, and the Stock Market, as well as fourth-year students of the University’s Vocational College enrolled in the Accounting and Taxation educational programme.
The event was opened by Dr Kateryna Shovsh, Director of the University’s Vocational College, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor. In her welcoming remarks, she emphasized the importance of such initiatives for developing professional competencies, critical thinking, teamwork, and a modern financial and economic culture among young people.
This year’s game focused on cybersecurity, safe behaviour in the digital environment, and financial literacy. This thematic emphasis aligns with the institutional HU-RIZONT project, one of whose key areas is promoting the financial and digital protection of young people in Transcarpathia.
The Brain Ring programme included four rounds:
- “Team Introduction” – “Position Your Team!”
- Economic Quiz – “Kahoot!”
- Presentation of the created website – “Shop Safely!”
- Debate – “Online Shopping: Modern Convenience or Digital Risk?”
The jury also included Andrea Husar, a stakeholder representative and Vice President of the Association of Young Hungarian Entrepreneurs of Transcarpathia. She noted the relevance of the chosen topic, the thorough preparation of the teams, and the practical value of such initiatives for future specialists in accounting and finance.
Gabor Pataki, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Accounting and Auditing, stressed that such intellectual competitions are an important component of the modern educational process, as they allow students to demonstrate their knowledge, creativity, and teamwork skills while also drawing attention to cybersecurity challenges.
According to the evaluation results, the team of the University’s Vocational College won first place, demonstrating a high level of preparation, strong team spirit, and the ability to defend their position convincingly.
The event was concluded by Dr Gabriella Loskorikh, PhD in Accounting and Taxation, Associate Professor, Deputy Head of the Department of Accounting and Auditing. Summing up the event, she expressed her gratitude to the participants for their active involvement, meaningful presentations, and sincere interest in issues of financial literacy and digital security.
