On July 21, 2026, Uzhhorod National University hosted the international seminar “Quality Without Borders: Internationalization and Cross-Border Quality Assurance in Higher Education”, organized by the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance in partnership with Uzhhorod National University and with the support of the Embassy of Ukraine in Hungary.
The event served as an important international platform for discussing the role of internationalization, cross-border quality assurance, partnership development, and the integration of Ukrainian higher education into the European Higher Education Area. The seminar brought together representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance, the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA), accreditation agencies from Romania and Hungary, heads of Ukrainian and foreign universities, and international experts.
Ferenc Rakoczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian University was represented at the event by Robert Bacho, Head of the Department of Accounting and Auditing, Doctor of Economic Sciences and Professor, who spoke as a panelist in the thematic session “Cross-Border Quality Assurance: Building Trust and Creating Value”. In his presentation, he shared the university’s experience in developing international cooperation, internationalizing the educational process, and implementing European approaches to higher education quality assurance. Particular attention was given to the institution’s experience participating in international institutional and programme accreditation procedures, its cooperation with the Hungarian Accreditation Committee (MAB), and the significance of cross-border partnership in double-degree programmes as a tool for enhancing academic quality, strengthening mutual trust between universities, and integrating Ukrainian higher education institutions into the European educational space. The institution was also represented by Professors Nina Poyda-Nosyk and Viktoriia Makarovych from the Department of Accounting and Auditing, who actively contributed to the Q&A session.
During the seminar, participants discussed practical experience in conducting cross-border accreditation, current approaches to international quality assurance, the role of academic mobility programmes, and prospects for further cooperation between Ukrainian and European higher education institutions. Special attention was paid to how international partnership fosters institutional development at universities, the formation of a quality culture, and the enhanced competitiveness of Ukrainian higher education within the European space.
