Special Psychologic Service of the Ferenc Rakoczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian University
As part of the University’s organizational structure, the Special Psychological Service is committed to preserving, developing, and restoring the mental health of students, instructors, and staff. Its primary goal is to provide support to every member of the higher education community in managing everyday challenges, the emotional burdens associated with the ongoing war situation, and difficulties in academic and social adaptation. Through these efforts, the service not only promotes the personal well-being of students but also contributes to the development of a health-conscious higher education environment, in line with regulations and support outlined by ministerial decree.
Our Main Goals:
- To preserve, develop, and strengthen mental health.
- To cultivate psychological awareness and a reflective worldview.
- To support students in adapting to the institutional environment.
- To create conditions for harmonious development, self-knowledge, and self-realization.
- To foster resilience, emotional intelligence, stress tolerance, and self-regulation.
- To ensure multilingual accessibility for all students and instructors.
Our Main Tasks:
- Providing psychological counseling and individual consultations.
- Conducting psychodiagnostic assessments and ongoing monitoring.
- Organizing prevention and intervention programs, trainings, and roundtable discussions.
- Implementing psycho-correctional and developmental programs.
- Holding “psychologist hours” and interactive sessions.
- Organizing lectures and community events that promote psychological awareness (e.g., Mental Health Day, Anti-Bullying Week).
- Preventing bullying and cyberbullying while fostering a safe institutional environment.
- Offering psychosocial support for students and instructors.
The comprehensive programs of the Service cover all areas of mental health: adaptation and resilience-building trainings for first-year students, communication and self-confidence workshops, art therapy sessions, as well as film clubs and thematic conferences. We pay special attention to managing aggression, raising awareness of social stereotypes, conflict resolution, and processing crisis situations.
Our work also includes providing professional support to teachers, dormitory educators, parents, and student self-governments. Our services are available to everyone in both Hungarian and Ukrainian, thereby strengthening the multilingual and inclusive community of the University.
