Kölcsey Ferenc Professional Boarding School

The Kölcsey Ferenc Professional Boarding School is a structural unit of the Ferenc Rakoczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian University. Its primary function is to provide accommodation for students who have been admitted to the University and have an active legal relationship with the institution. The Boarding School operates in accordance with the general regulations governing student dormitories in Ukraine, as well as its own operational policies and house rules. It ensures appropriate housing, study conditions, and recreational facilities for its residents. Located on the University’s campus, the Boarding School is accessible from the institution’s inner courtyard.

Facilities

The dormitory of the Ferenc Rakoczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian University fully meets students’ needs. Its two buildings can accommodate a total of 233 residents in rooms with 2, 3, 4, or 6 beds. All rooms are equipped with Wi-Fi access and a refrigerator, and each includes a private bathroom with a toilet, shower, and sink. There are separate kitchens and water dispensers on each floor providing both hot and cold water. Residents also have access to a common room with a television and an exercise bike. The shared kitchens are equipped with a microwave, kettle, toaster, electric stove, and oven. A laundry service is available with the assistance of the dormitory staff, and the building provides barrier-free access for students with disabilities.

Services and Community Life

Numerous services are available to residents of the dormitory, including a 24-hour reception, 12–24-hour educational supervision, a medical office, an IT room, a gym, a film club, a study room, and a covered terrace. Students can also use the sports facilities located in the dormitory courtyard and at the Health and Sports Center.

In addition to providing accommodation and study facilities, the dormitory also serves as a vibrant community space, hosting various programs such as cooking nights, game nights, and charity events. The Student Self-Governance Body of the Kölcsey Ferenc Professional Boarding School plays a key role in organizing and coordinating these activities, ensuring an active and inclusive community life.

The leadership of the Ferenc Rakoczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian University continuously works to improve living conditions and to modernize the material and technical infrastructure of the Boarding School.

For example, a comprehensive renovation was recently completed in the Kossuth Square dormitory building, which included major repair works in approximately three-quarters of the rooms, as well as a complete roof replacement.
