Division of Labour and Technical Safety
Brief Description of Responsibilities
In accordance with the Law of Ukraine “On Labor Protection”, the University has established a Division of Labour and Technical Safety. Its main responsibility is to organize and implement legal, organizational, technical, sanitary, and hygienic measures aimed at preventing accidents, occupational diseases, and workplace incidents among employees and participants in the educational process, as well as to ensure a safe and healthy working environment.
Main Objective of the Division
- To organize preventive measures aimed at eliminating harmful and hazardous factors, and preventing accidents, occupational diseases, and other incidents that may directly endanger the life or health of employees and participants in the educational process.
- To monitor compliance with laws, regulations, and standards on labor protection; the “Labor Protection” chapter of the collective agreement; and the provisions of the University’s internal labor protection regulations by all participants in the educational process.
- To inform and educate University employees and participants in the educational process on the principles and key issues of labor protection, promoting a culture of safety and responsibility in the workplace.
Main Tasks of the Division
- Builds and maintains an effective, integrated labor protection and safety management system, and promotes improvements in this area across the University’s individual structural units and among responsible officials.
- In cooperation with the University’s structural units, develops comprehensive measures to implement established standards of safety, occupational health, and the work environment, as well as the provisions of the “Labor Protection” section of the collective agreement.
- Conducts introductory briefings for employees to ensure compliance with labor protection and safety regulations.
- Organizes the assessment of officials’ knowledge regarding labor protection.
- Prepares draft instructions and orders related to the University’s general labor protection matters.
- Monitors:
- Compliance with current labor legislation, inter-sectoral and sectoral regulations, and other applicable standards, as well as the implementation of labor protection requirements specified in employees’ job descriptions.
- The execution of orders issued by state supervisory authorities, and the implementation of proposals and recommendations from authorized work collectives and trade unions concerning labor protection issues.
- The timely training and briefing of employees, and the provision of legally mandated benefits and compensations for those performing heavy physical work or working in hazardous conditions.
- The employment of minors, women, and persons with disabilities in accordance with current legislation.
- The conduct of preliminary (pre-employment) and periodic (in-service) medical examinations for employees engaged in heavy physical work or in harmful or hazardous conditions, or when recruiting specialists.
- The implementation of labor protection measures, instructions, orders, and regulations, as well as actions aimed at eliminating the causes of workplace accidents and incidents recorded in investigation reports
