University Rakoczi lecturers at the International Conference of Church Historians in the Carpathian Basin

Once again, lecturers from the II. Rákóczi Ferenc Transcarpathian Hungarian University were present at the eighth event of the Tradition, Identity, History HIT 2025 – Reformed Church History Conferences. The international academic conference took place on October 21, 2025, organized by the Church History Research Institute of the Faculty of Theology at Károli Gáspár Reformed University in Budapest (Ráday str. 28.).

The aim of the conference is to examine the nearly half-millennium history of Hungarian Reformed Christianity from as many historical perspectives as possible (church, cultural, social, mental, cultural history, ethnography, theology), providing an opportunity for scholars from different disciplines to meet and discuss their findings and perspectives. theology) and to provide an opportunity for scholars from different disciplines to meet and exchange ideas about their findings, perspectives, and questions.

Dr. Ibolya Szamborovszky-Nagy (PhD, candidate of historical sciences, associate professor of the Department of History and Social Sciences) participated in the conference at the invitation of the head of the Church History Research Institute of the Faculty of Theology at Károli Gáspár Reformed University and gave a lecture entitled „A Forgotten Church Official: In Memory of Deacon Gyula Fekete”. The presentation reflected the results of the associate professor’s scientific research on the topic of Soviet church policy, which has already been published in numerous scientific publications, including the latest issue of the Swiss journal ranking Scopus Q1 (https://www.mdpi.com/2077-1444/16/9/1130).

Marianna Székely, assistant professor at the Department of Geography and Tourism, gave a lecture entitled “The Struggle for Survival of the Máramaros-Ugocsa Congregations during the Soviet Era,” who also spoke to the audience about one segment of his own research topic.
