Participation of the Department of Accounting and Auditing Professors in the Meeting of International Academic Journal Editors
On October 9, 2025, Professors Nina Poyda-Nosyk and Viktoriia Makarovych from the Department of Accounting and Auditing participated in an online meeting of Ukrainian academic journal editors held within the framework of the Mentorship Cohort | Ukraine Managing Editors program.
The event, organized by Dr. Olena Kharlamova, Professor at the Department of Economic Cybernetics, Director of the Coordination Center for the Publication of a Series of Scientific Periodicals at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, and Deputy Head of the Ukrainian Regional Chapter of the European Association of Science Editors (EASE), aimed to discuss current issues of academic publishing and to facilitate experience exchange among a wide circle of editors.
The meeting addressed several important topics, including:
- COPE’s regulation of geopolitical issues, particularly the potential introduction of the concept of “anonymous authorship”;
- The use of AI technology declarations by editorial boards, with Ukrainian colleagues proposing a standardized disclosure of AI contributions through the GAIDeT taxonomy;
- The necessity and effectiveness of implementing Persistent Identifiers (PIDs) in academic publishing.
The keynote speakers were publishing experts from the United States:
- Melanie Dolechek – the Executive Director of the Society for Scholarly Publishing at the International Association of Scientific, Technical & Medical Publishers (STM Association) (Kansas City Metropolitan Area, United States)
- Chris Asher – publishing professional with 10+ years of experience in managing editorial technologies, workflows, and processes for various academic journals and organizations (Maryland, United States)
- Daniel Salsbury – Deputy Executive Editor, Director of Publishing Operations at Proceedings of the National Academy of Science (PNAS) and PNAS Nexus (Washington, D.C., United States)
The meeting was marked by a high level of professional exchange, valuable practical insights for enhancing editorial culture, and an emphasis on transparency, research integrity, and innovation in academic publishing.
